Hayman Vibrasonic 'Big Sound' set #1 (Tubby!)
Gold ingot finish, circa 1970.
22"x14" Bass, 13"x9" Rack Tom, 16"x16" Floor Tom, 14"x5" Snare Drum. All original. It was filthy when I got it, wrap was dull, interiors were actually brown! The chrome was flat and looked terrible, I really was worried, what had I bought?! A Sunday spent with the floor covered in newspapers and a bucket of gentle soap and a baby sponge and it came up as new! Now I got it from a lovely record producer/engineer setting up a new studio, needing space, (kept the Yamaha RC9000). He got it out of a basement of a club in Soho, no provenance but Jimmi Hendix 'may' have rehearsed there so.... who knows?!
Hayman Vibrasonic 'Big Sound' set #2
Silver ingot finish, circa 1972.
22"x14" Bass, 13"x9" Rack Tom, 16"x16" Floor Tom, 14"x5" Snare Drum. Sadly finish is very poor so being re-covered.
George Hayman 'Big Sound' set #3.
Gold ingot finish, circa 1968/9, I think it's a really early one, currently reading up on the specs to compare to check actual age, I'll update as soon as I've got it sorted. It has 22"x14" bass, 13"x9" rack, 16"x16" floor and 14"x5.5" snare. This has the earlier Tom mount with different thread and a 'notched' rail, also has a bass drum cymbal arm, snare stand and some original heads! Needs a good clean and I think it'll be almost up to 'Tubby' standards!
Hayman 'Recording' kit set #4.
Lovely little kit in silver ingot. 12"x8" rack tom, 14"x14" floor tom and a 18"x12" bass drum. These seem to be made during the crossover from George Hayman to just Hayman production, the bass and floor badged Hayman but with George Hayman heads and the rack is a George Hayman. The floor tom and rack have discoloured from the glue used to fix the wrap so they look somewhere between silver and gold, I use the 14" with Tubby and under lights you can't really tell.
Hayman 'Showman'(ish) set #5.
Rare as those teeth from the hen! It has a 26"x15" monster! It's huge! Currently stripped ready to be wrapped in gold glitter finish, had to 'borrow' a pair of Ludwig hoops that have that company's gold glitter so seems fitting. It is a kit with 12"x8" & 13"x9" racks and 16"x16" floor tom!
Hayman Bits!
I have some others in the queue to be fettled. I have what could have been a rare 24"x14" original wood wrap bass drum, it has had some use! But very restorable although the wrap is beyond I'll try to wrap over the top. Status Quo's John Coghlan had one and is seen on Top of the Pops, Caroline era? Was this his??!! I have a couple of orphan toms to make this up into a 'Big Sound'
DW Collectors series.
Dark Blue lacquer with two layers of clear lacquer, first layer has blue sparkles, second has multi colour splarkles. The hardware on all drums is brass.Born 1998.
22"x18" Bass, 8"x6" Rack Tom, 10"x8" Rack Tom, 12"x8" Rack Tom, 14"x12" Rack Tom, 14"x5.5" Craviotto Snare in same finish, very rare indeed.
Crush Acrylic #1
Red acrylic kit, USA rock sizes, 10" & 12" rack toms, 16" floor and 22"x18" bass drum with matching acrylic hoops.
Crush Acrylic set #2.
Red acrylic 'Bop' sized kit, 10" rack Tom, 13" floor Tom (amazing!) and a bass drum that is ridiculously punchy of 18" diameter with the matching acrylic hoops too.
Premier Olympic
My first kit! Yes, I still have it. It’s a 20x14 bass drum, 12x8 rack and 14x14 floor tom, both concert type (single headed). Well used, battle scars but totally original, both bass heads original, toms changed. Also original 14x5 steel snare and all hardware. Also it has the Krut cymbals that I augmented with some Zyn and Super Zyn.
